We Want Google
Wednesday, 17 March 2010 20:07

You may have already read about Charlotte County’s interest in selection as a test site for Google’s new “Ultra High Speed Internet”.  This test project of Google will blow away the speeds of DSL, Cable, and even traditional fiber networks.  If the county is successful in becoming one of the test sites, it will be a huge attraction for companies to relocate and stimulate economic development.  There would be no infrastructure costs for the county, yet we would have the opportunity to be on the cutting edge of technology world-wide.

Google will purportedly choose test sites as a function of local interest and response.  Please help to bring this phenomenal opportunity to Charlotte County by completing their survey at http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07e2s75a45g6jfye2d/start.  For more information, check out this YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wusklcNKDZc.

Another way by which the county's Economic Development Office is trying to lure Google is through "We Want Google" pictures from around the community.  Be watching for photo opportunities at local events during the next couple of weeks (feel free to jump in the picture or create one your self).  Forward your "We Want Google" pictures and home-made videos to charlotteflwantsfiber@gmail.com (Creativity is a key in this effort!)

If you have not alreayd read it, you've got to read the June 2009 issue of Harbor Style magazine!  It has a fantastic story about CCYP including interviews of past and present members. It also has the Bachelor and Bachelorette of 2009 competition (almost entirely comprised of CCYP members).  And for those with children, there is a story about young families in Charlotte County that also features CCYP members.  Check out Harbor Style here and pick up a hard copy  of the current issue at many of your area businesses.
